The web site for Community Lutheran was originally conceived by Josh Wind in the late 1990's. Josh was then a high school student who had been working for a local internet provider part-time. He developed the original web page and found a hosting site.
At the time, Community Lutheran Church was one of the few congregations on the web. Josh developed and hosted the web site without assistance. Josh purchased the URL "communitylutheran.org" and donated it to the congregation. As the "owners" of communitylutheran.org, the church was able to have a web page with our name as an address. This may sound simple now, but at the time of purchase, this was a new concept. Now a college graduate and medical student in another state, Josh still maintains ties with Community Lutheran. We're always glad to see Josh with his family during school breaks!
The foresight of this young member has created this important ministry tool. Josh's talents expressed through the original website, show that members of any age can have a lasting and important impact on a ministry if they are only willing to try!
When Josh went to college after graduating from High School, Jim O'Brien took over the 'webservant' duties. Jim added to the content of the pages and added functions. Originally Jim redesigned the page and then later implemented the design by Roger Balettie. Jim maintained the site until 2004.
Jim has been an important influence for the Community Lutheran web page. Picking up where Josh left off, Jim has experimented with different functions and different uses of the web site. Jim's occupation includes programming and web development. We have been truly blessed that he used his work knowledge to improve our online presence.
In 2003 Roger Balettie redesigned the site as a birthday present for his father-in-law, Pastor Paul. Roger's site design is currently in use. Roger, a real live "rocket scientist", maintains his personal site at www.balettie.com.
Church Council and church Members have added content specific to their Ministry and their ministry needs. General content has come from brochures, bulletins, newsletters, announcements and from any communications that provided meaningful information. Additional assistance has come from Tom Noon, Jill and John Stoner and Charles Warren.
